The beleganjur (variously spelled baleganjur or belaganjur) or marching gamelan is a common sight in Bali and is often seen accompanying ritual processions related to cremation or other ceremonial events. It is also occasionally seen played as a sitting gamelan for odalan (temple cleansing) ceremonies and other temple ceremonies. The music is typically a hypnotic, trance-inducing series of percussive loops, punctuated by crashing cymbals, often in highly complex staccato rhythms. In fact, the chaotic energy created by the beleganjur is felt to create a virtual sonic force-field of protection around the ritual object being transported in the procession, as well as help throw participants into trance to enable them to carry often very heavy funeral platforms for many miles.

THE NGELAWANG

Usually during the Galungan festival the Hindu people of Bali usually perform a ceremony called Ngelawang which involves travelling around the village in the costume of Barong Rangda and Barong Kedengkling.

The Ngelawang is full of performances that convey holy values and is meant to create prosperity and health. After the Ngelawang performance people make a canang sari offering which contains some money (sesari, canang beras jinah).

Lontar Barong Swari describes how the goddess Uma was cursed by Bhatara Guru and sent down into the world as the goddess Durga to disturb the affairs of mankind by creating disaster and plagues. When Durga practised Yoga facing the north, she caused gering lumintu; facing the west she caused gering hamancuh; facing the south she caused gering rug bhuana; and facing the east she caused gering ngutah bayar.

The unstable situation that Durga created in the world made the gods worried and anxious. They were afraid that heaven would also eventually be disturbed, so Sang Hyang Tri Murti (the Balinese Hindu trinity) descended to the earth to help mankind. Brahma manifested himself as Topeng Bang, Wisnu as Telek, and Siwa as Barong. These three gods eradicated the plagues by dancing from door to door. Any Hindu who desires protection from these three gods should conduct the Ngelawang ceremony and make an canang sari offering that contains money (canang beras jinah) in order to receive their blessing.

Ngelawang therefore is not just entertainment for the Balinese Hindu, but above all a spiritual performance to obtain protection, prosperity and health.

for everyone

A folk dance introduced to the island in the thirties, Janger also has its origin in the Sanghyang trance ceremony, in which the women chant the Sanghyang song and the men alternate with the gruff sounds of the Kecak. When the dance first came into existence, it spread through the banjars like fire.

Legong is a long-established genre of Balinese dance that
achieved its modern form between about 1915 and 1935. The genre is
regarded as a treasury of the movements for Balinese women’s dance,
and no dancer’s training is complete if she lacks a solid grounding in
legong. In the past, legong dances were presented as a secular entertainment
for the village nobility—hence the name legong keraton, which
means palace legong. Legong is now performed for Balinese as an entertainment
at festivals and major social events. It is most often presented
at temple ceremonies, where, being a secular dance (tari balih-balihan),
it is relegated to the outer courtyard, a nonsacral space. It is given also
at concerts specially organized for tourists. In these, the legong dance
is one of a potpourri of dances most of which
Tari Leko or Leko dance is basically is a kind of legong dance come from Tista Village Tabanan regency - Bali

GILI TRAWANGAN, the most popular among the three Gili’s (Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno) Just kick back and enjoy the sun, nightly beach parties and sea. The main stripe is full of accommodations, restaurants, and dive shops. If you are seeking a quieter place to stay there are bungalows in the north. This Island is also known as "Party Island", where mostly young European find themselves "Lost In Paradise". If you come during the Peak Season (July-August, December-January), most places are full and prices are doubled. An advanced reservation is a must.
With spectacular sunrises over Lombok's Mount Rinjani volcano and breathtaking sunsets that illuminate Bali's towering Mount Agung volcano, together with warm hospitality of the Gili Trawangan residents, it's not surprising that most visitors end up staying longer than originally plan.
